The Power of Women in Insurance

Did you know women have comprised over 60 percent of the insurance industry workforce in each year for the last decade?  According to an annual survey of business establishments in private industry conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), women have maintained supremacy and their industry strength continues to grow. In 2020, there were over 2 million women employed in the insurance sector, accounting for over 65 percent of the approximately 3 million workers in the insurance industry.

The percentage of women varies widely by occupation, but what is apparent is that Claims and Policy processing clerks leads the way with over 80 percent being female.  Claims Adjusters is not too far behind with over 62 percent and Insurance Underwriting and Sales agents maintaining the majority at over 50 percent respectively.
